01. What information is sent to the donors?
The donor gets an instant acknowledgement mail along with an SMS. On receiving the reconciliation statement from the bank, a receipt is sent via e-mail immediately, followed by a hard copy by post (within India).
02. What will OSOCT do with my donation?
As soon as the donation received through cheque or online received the bank, the amount is allotted for a specific programme, which it has been meant for. Otherwise, the donation without any cause will be transferred to the Corpus Fund, which will be used for the future charitable events. The utilization and results are managed, monitored and audited. The outcome is reflected in the annual impact report.
03. How does OSOCT ensure that the donor’s contribution is being utilized in the intended way?
OSOC Trust follows the principle of good governance. We have a four-tier audit mechanism to track and monitor the funds raised and utilized.

There is no specific amount that should be donated. However, all the programmes have a detailed breakup of the expenditure displayed online.
05. Is the website safe to make online payments?
Yes, the website is safe for any kind of transaction. The payment gateway is a third party payment gateway recognised by the financial institutions under the government of India. So every transaction is thoroughly secured.
06. What is the process of keeping the donors information safe?
As a credible organisation, we honor the privacy of our donors. The donor data is not exposed or shared with any external agency under any circumstances. We have a robust in-house mechanism and server system where the records are kept safe. The entire setup is protected with password and is guarded by surveillance software. The data is kept strictly confidential and only authorised staff with a special non-disclosure bond have access to it.
07. Do you issue Income Tax receipts? How soon will the receipts arrive?
Yes, Income Tax receipts are issued to all the donors irrespective of the amount supported. A digital copy of the receipt is generated on and sent via e-mail post realisation of the donated amount. This will be an interim copy until the receipts under the new Income Tax regulations 10 BE are issued by the Government of India by the end of the financial year. On request, the Soft/ hard copy of the receipt are delivered to the donor within 15 working days. Kindly send your PAN & Address through your e-mail to our Trust e-mail ID.
08. Can I get tax deduction if I donate to an NGO?
Individuals who donate to a registered NGO in India can claim a tax deduction of up to 50% of the donated amount under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. This deduction is available for both individuals and companies at the time of filing your income tax return. To encourage more people to serve humanity and make donations, the Government of India has made provisions under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. This means that one (individual/organisation) can donate their money towards a social cause and claim income tax exemption. Please consult your accountant for detail information.
09. Can you explain by an example how I can claim donation for tax deduction?
Please consult your accountant for detail information. Here is simple example for understanding: let say your adjusted gross income is Rs10 Lakh and you donate Rs 1 lakh to a 50% category 80G registration NGO. You can deduct maximum 10% capped limit of adjusted gross income and in this case up to Rs.1 lakh. Now 50 % of Rs 1 Lakh is Rs 50000 and this amount can be deducted from gross income. In case of 30% tax slab, this saves Rs 15000. Make sure to obtain stamp receipt with the nonprofit’s name, address, PAN, 80G registration number and donation details.
10. When can I get a Tax Receipt/ Exemption certificate?
We generate an interim tax Receipt within 10 days from the date of contribution made through online donations. Including the courier process (on request) it takes 15 working days for the Receipt to reach you. If you contribute offline it takes 15 working days. Donors who contribute through OSOCT online donations receive an acknowledgement from the NGO along with an income tax exemption donation Receipt/certificate. A separate tax exemption certificate under the new rules (10BE) will be issued to all the donors by the end of every financial year through offline / online medium.
11. Can one donate in kind (Old Cloths, Books, Stationery etc,)?
Usually in-kind donation is accepted only when there is a need in any of the projects at a given point of time.

13. What is the minimum amount that needs to be donated to get a Tax exemption?

We do not encourage donors to directly meet the beneficiaries as we do not want to give special treatment to any child.
01. Does OSOC Trust have permission of the Government to receive donations from FOREIGN COUNTRIES?
Yes, the organisation accepts donations in Global currency as well but only in the form of cheque or via online payment gateway. As a policy the organisation adhere to all government norms and maintains optimum transparency with the donors. The organisation does have an FCRA account for its international supporters. However tax exemptions are applicable as per the country specific guidelines.
02. If I am living outside of India as an NRI, can I donate to an Indian NGO?
It depends on the status of the NGO. You can donate as an NRI if the NGO has FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) approval. You should be aware that your donation is not tax deductible if you are a foreign national. If the NGO has no FCRA certificate and you are living outside of India with foreign citizenship, you cannot donate to this charity.
03. I am an NRI. Will I get tax exemption on my donation?
NRI (Non-Resident Indian) donors, who are Indian citizens, holding an Indian passport are eligible to tax exemption under section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Don’t forget to mention your India PAN Card Number in the online donation form as it is presently made mandatory to avail the tax benefits.
