Volunteerism lies at the heart of Openheart’s mission. Today, over 400 dedicated volunteers work with us at the grassroots, helping us carry our services into villages and urban pockets where support is most needed. These individuals are selected for their genuine desire to serve others—regardless of caste, creed, or religion—and are trained intensively before stepping into the field.
Our volunteer training program provides both technical knowledge and field awareness. Whether its health camps, education drives, disaster relief, or community outreach, volunteers learn the practical skills required for their roles. We emphasize ethical behavior, respect, empathy, and non-discrimination as fundamental values—so that every act of service reflects dignity and compassion.
While precise national data on volunteer numbers is evolving, it is estimated that India has nearly 18.65 crore (186.5 million) people who volunteer their time and support to nonprofit organizations.
Reports also note that volunteering in India has grown steadily, with many initiatives logging millions of hours annually. This underscores the potential and importance of community participation in social change.
At Openheart, volunteers are more than helpers—they become storytellers, change agents, and ambassadors of hope. Their consistent efforts enable us to reach deeper into communities, sustain our programs, and amplify impact. When you volunteer with us, you don’t just give time—you become part of a movement that uplifts lives with responsibility, humility, and unity.
